Modernising Interactive Museum Exhibits
Soundsmith worked with The Ruskin Museum to modernise and enhance interactive exhibit systems across the museum, improving reliability, usability and long-term maintainability.
Existing exhibit technology was upgraded to BrightSign media players, providing stable playback and simplified content management for museum staff while reducing maintenance and downtime.
The project also included the installation of a 100-inch professional display within the Bluebird Wing alongside new floorstanding touchscreen kiosks designed to create engaging visitor experiences.
The Challenge
Improving Existing Systems Rather Than Replacing Everything
Like many museums, The Ruskin Museum already had exhibit technology in place. The challenge was to improve reliability, simplify content management and modernise the visitor experience while retaining the strengths of the existing exhibits.
The project also required new technology within the Bluebird Wing, helping visitors engage with the story of Donald Campbell and Bluebird through contemporary digital interpretation.
